Suggestions for costume look and feel

Disclaimer

These are not standards, they are not unwritten rules, they are suggestions and nothing else.

I guess my point is this: The things provided on the Wolf Wiki are there for those who want to buy-into the faction concept (this by no means they have to), they are not rules or expectations they are guidelines. Those individuals who are stakeholders in a faction and have decided to buy-into its concept can use them should they wish to. But this is by no means expected; unwritten or otherwise. it's there if you want. Nobody is going to think anymore or less of anybody regardless of these suggestions.

John Evans posted on the CP boards recently

Quote:
Always try and make your character fit around the world, not the world around your character

and I personally couldn't agree with this statement more.

Every event last year and the year before someone has come up to me and said "I really like your costume, how did you make it" or "can you tell me how to do that". I'm no costume guru and I’ve certainly no great understanding of history but I make an effort and so do a whole load of other people.

The images I have posted here are to answer those people’s questions

Cheap costume

Wear lots of furry material cos its cheap especially around your boots as it eliminates that'modern' look.Primark is a good source for cheap plain jogging bottoms and cheap suede, sheepskin and leather? jackets that can easily be made into decent looking jerkins especially if you add studs. They often have other bizarre looking clothing that can be easily adapted into bits of costumes including dressing gowns and various female apparel.Unfortunately the don't cover the currently fashionable "big trouser look"

Brand

That 'big-pants' look was triggered partly by Frieda of the Ice wolves.

The design is egg-shellently classical and I'm sure if you asked nicely she would make a few pairs (currently priced around £15 I think). Great thing is, ok, it can look a little too uniformed, but just about any type of fabric can be used.

The Ice wolf fabric was fairly cheap, costing very few pounds.

Think, in places like Abarkan you can get 2 metres of fabric for less than *£2*

'Two-Pound' people! With this type of clothing, you can choose the more 'real' colours, or go for something a little more 'Noble' and stylish.

Her website is coming soon, if allowed, I'll post it here.

Whats more, it doesnt have to be Viking/Norse/Wolves, it fits just about any other 'olde-western-northern-peoples' from year dot to early medieval.
